5 Skin Care Tips for the Rainy Season

Monsoon Beauty Tips for you 👄

Do you love the monsoon season as much as I do? It’s the perfect time for a family getaway but do you know monsoons are the perfect breeding season for bacteria, especially when it comes to your skin?

If you haven’t heard about this before and are keen on knowing more, keep reading. Monsoons mean an increase in humidity and more so if you live in a city like Mumbai or for that matter any coastal area that’s in close proximity to the sea.

Well, in my case I do fall under that category, hence, I’m here to share my experiences with you and to help you out with a few beauty tips for the monsoon that you can incorporate into your daily skincare routine.

Taking care of your skin during the rainy season is very crucial and I realised this when my skin started getting too oily/greasy during this period. For dry skin beauties, this may not be much of an issue but irrespective of your skin type is important that you look after your skin in the right way.

Here are a few steps you can follow daily or weekly to ensure your skin is being taken care of in the right manner and without fail.

Cleanse that skin thoroughly

Monsoon or summer, cleansing your skin is a must. Dermatologists and other skin specialists recommend cleansing your face twice daily — morning and once before bed. You want to make sure that you’re not hitting the bed with bacterial building up on your skin.

You may pick a cleanser that suits your skin type and needs, however, if you’re looking for more natural alternatives, I could recommend the newly launched Elevate Ayurveda Tulsi Powered Aloe Vera Cleansing Foam.

With this product, a little goes a long way. The anti-inflammatory properties of the ingredients present in this cleansing foam prevent skin problems caused by various external factors such as impurities, pollutants while keeping the skin soft and plump.

Exfoliating and buff away those nasties

Clogged pores are a major problem during monsoons and in order to clear them away and make your skin more breathable, I would recommend a mild face scrub once or twice a week depending upon your skin type. When choosing a scrub to make sure the granules present in it are not too coarse, you want your scrub to be very gentle on your skin. Anything harsh, can break down your skin’s protective barrier, thereby leading to more unwanted skin troubles.

Give your skin nothing but the best, therefore, if you ask me to recommend a good face scrub, it would be the Elevate Ayurveda Methi Powered Aloe Vera Face Scrub by MyGlamm. Developed with 100% pure aloe vera juice and powered by ingredients such as methi, grapeseed oil and amla it helps improve skin health, maintains skin’s optimal moisture levels and takes care of the overall texture of your skin.

Use minimal makeup

I don’t remember the last time I wore makeup. Since we’re all working from home, there’s no need to do so, however, for those who are constantly busy on video calls with their clients and colleagues, it is important to look presentable. Wearing tons of makeup during monsoons is a big no, no matter how much you love layering on that foundation and concealer I would recommend sticking to a more no-makeup look and to achieve this all you need is a CC or BB cream.

These lightweight formulas will give the impression of wearing makeup without having to use any. For your lips, you can opt for a lip balm instead.

Indoors or outdoors sunscreen is MUST

Even if the weather outside is cloudy, you still need to make sure that your skin stays protected from the harmful UV rays which is why I look to use my sunscreen on a daily basis.

Now since I have oily skin I will opt for gel-based sun protection. In circumstances where need to step out for groceries or for other essential purposes make sure you use a waterproof/water-resistant sunscreen. These are easily available on various e-commerce platforms.

Pamper your skin with sheet masks

On a gloomy Saturday morning, getting out of bed is simply impossible. All you want to do is show yourself some extra love or simply pamper your skin. Over weekends a good moisturising/hydrating sheet mask is all I need. Infused with highly concentrated serums, these sheet masks do a lot more than we can imagine.

Instead of using a washable face mask, I would recommend the GLOW Iridescent Brightening Sheet Mask or the K. Play Sheet Masks by MyGlamm. I’ve tried and tested these personally and I absolutely love them.
